eye catcher | art.luminum

Eye catching it certainly was, metal art is something I’ve never seen done quite so well before.  Korean artist Koh Hon is currently exhibiting in the Shin Hwa Gallery on Aberdeen Street and viewing is highly recommended.  I was impressed with the intricate detail and subtle use of lacquer, which when combined, make this cold medium transform into something very soft and palatable.  The works lure your senses into thinking they are warm and tactile, all you need is one touch and confusion sets in.  They are indeed hard but cool and unforgettably smooth to the touch.

About the Artist Koh Hon
Korean artist Kon Hon picks a very rare medium for his artworks. That is, aluminum.  His works express moment and eternity, classics and modern times, nature and art, time and space crossing each other.  These are the characteristic of his ‘Aluminum painting.’  Koh Hon skillfully uses both surgical drills and industrial machines for carving.  The craftsmanship is explicit with fine details; it is strong yet delicate.
